Job summary

Indiana University Health in Indianapolis is seeking a Lab Assistant II for evenings at Methodist Hospital. You will perform specimen collection, basic processing, waived and moderate complexity testing, and related clerical tasks in a fast-paced lab.

Requires HS diploma or GED; phlebotomy training preferred; proficiency with computers and strong telephone skills; may participate on committees or projects and handle patient specimens.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Completion of initial and six-month competency testing for identified testing.
• Annual competency assessment required.
• Phlebotomy training program with lab or biology/chemistry background preferred.
• Experience in waived or moderate complexity testing preferred.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Telephone skills.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods.
• May serve on committees or projects contributing to the department.

Responsibilities

• Provide general lab services including specimen collection, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing, waived and moderate complexity testing.
• Perform related clerical tasks and may register patients and specimens.
