Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks an Inpatient Staff Pharmacist for evening shifts to dispense inpatient meds, verify orders, and ensure safe, timely distribution of patient medications. The role includes teaching and supervising residents, interns, and technicians, and supporting code events and Level I traumas in a pediatric setting.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, and Ohio Pharmacist licensure or eligibility, with Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, required.
• Doctor of Pharmacy, preferred.
• Licensure as a Pharmacist in Ohio or eligibility with license obtained within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Dispenses inpatient medications per prescriber orders.
• Verifies orders, ensures timely delivery and appropriate form.
• Contacts prescribing practitioner with concerns and reviews adverse drug events.
• Maintains prior to admission medication list and communicates discharge needs.
• Provides in-service training and precepts staff and students.
• Supports codes and Level I traumas and ongoing patient safety considerations.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred
