Job summary

TaraVista Behavioral Health in Devens, Massachusetts, is seeking a Mental Health Counselor for an adult inpatient unit on the evening shift. This part-time role supports a multidisciplinary treatment team and provides direct care, observation, and de-escalation for patients, while assisting families and ensuring a safe therapeutic milieu.

You will follow treatment plans, complete documentation in the EMR, and participate in team rounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology or human services field preferred.
• Previous PCT/PCA, CNA or Medical Assistant experience required.
• Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Experience in psychiatric or substance inpatient settings, restraint reduction/de-escalation, and crisis intervention is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient observation and rounds.
• Assist staff with patient care following treatment plans.
• Observe and monitor patient progress and report observations to staff.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living as necessary.
• Provide supervision of patients’ activities.
• Monitor safety of patients on the unit.
• Process admissions belongings.
• Complete documentation in the EMR system.
• Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team.
