Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking an Evening shift courier for Surgical Services. The role transports patients, specimens, equipment, and documents across the hospital, using safe transfer techniques and maintaining transportation equipment in clean and safe condition.

No prior experience is required, but hospital exposure, good communication, and willingness to cross-train are valued. BLS/CPR certification within 90 days of hire and a valid Texas driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver's license preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification must be completed within 90 days of hire.
• Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by communicating them to others.
• Performs transport duties for the department as necessary.
• Establishes, maintains and revises record keeping and filing systems, ensuring confidentiality of information.
• Consistently attentive to detail when delivering paperwork.
• Distributes mail in a timely manner.
• Answers and routes telephone calls; responds promptly and graciously to calls and visitors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
