Job summary

SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital is seeking a Security Officer to join our team on an evening shift. The role involves patrolling facilities, ensuring safety, and serving as a first responder to urgent matters within the hospital campus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Willing to become an armed officer while employed with SSM Health.
• Requires a valid MO driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record.
• Successful completion of a psychological evaluation via third party company.
• Background check and drug screening required by SSM Health.

Responsibilities

• Protects property and staff by conducting interior and exterior rounds, observing for safety and security issues, theft, and monitoring parking lots.
• Promotes visitor and employee safety by door checks, lighting checks, elevator operation checks, assisting with disruptive individuals, patient restraints, and escorts.
• Responds to overhead pages or requests for assistance and escorts emergency personnel through the building; provides post-mortem services as needed.
• Maintains professional customer service in complex situations and communicates with clinical staff to identify safety hazards.
• Observes and reports security concerns; completes incident reports and shift logs for appropriate personnel.
• Performs maintenance assistance through campus safety measures: alarm testing, life safety equipment checks, AEDs, oxygen tanks, extinguishers, access control, badging, door integrity, etc.
• Enforces organization policies and procedures and assists with video surveillance reviews and investigations.
• May operate a motor vehicle to patrol.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
