Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Transporter to support patient care across the hospital. The role requires attention to patient safety and strong communication with patients, families and staff.

The transporter moves patients and items, adheres to HIPAA, verifies identifications, and follows department procedures. Training during the first week applies to full-time, part-time and PRN staff.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED required.
• Six (6) months customer service or patient transport experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by the first day of employment is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains friendly, efficient service attitude towards patients, clients and co-workers.
• Provides transportation of patients and items to various areas of the institution to facilitate patient care.
• Safely moves patients with traction, IV's, drainage apparatus, oxygen and other encumbrances.
• Greets patients and family members professionally and identifies oneself.
• Verifies patient identification, using two methods (patient name and patient date of birth).
• Maintains patient/family confidentiality (HIPAA).
