Job summary

Banner Health in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Food Service Worker to support the Culinary & Nutrition team in the hospital's Bistro and related food service areas. You will work evenings (1:30pm–10pm), 40 hours per week, with a $1/hour weekend shift differential.

The role involves food preparation, patient trayline, and cafe service in a fast-paced healthcare setting. You will follow dietary policies, assist patients and staff, and maintain sanitation standards while using professional equipment.

Qualifications

• Learn and follow established policy and procedures.
• Read and understand written and verbal instructions.
• Pass food handling certification tests as required.
• Food handlers' card may be required within 30 days of hire (Banner Staffing Services).

Responsibilities

• Sets up workstation and prepares all assigned foods following procedures and portion controls; ensures food presentation meets standards.
• Cleans and sanitizes dishes, utensils, and kitchen areas; disposes of waste and monitors dish machine temperature.
• Maintains par levels and restocks items; rotates stock and checks expiration dates.
• Checks and records food and equipment temperatures; reports discrepancies to supervisor.
• Delivers meals and nourishments; assists in catering or special event service when needed.
• Handles cash register transactions (where applicable) and interacts with patients, staff and visitors to provide excellent service while maintaining sanitation.
