Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Custodian II to maintain sanitary, safe hospital environments across facilities. You will operate cleaning equipment, perform floor care, restock supplies, and ensure patient and staff spaces remain clean.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, ability to read/write English, physical stamina, and teamwork. The role is full-time with evenings and union participation, contributing to a premier health system.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities (pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching).
• Must be able to work around sick and disabled patients in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate carpet shampooing and upholstery cleaning equipment.
• Operate mechanical cleaning and scrubbing equipment.
• Strip and wax floor surfaces.
• Clean and wax furniture, cases, fixtures, and furnishings.
• Stock restroom supplies.
• Dust venetian blinds and wipe walls.
• Make beds and change linen.
• Collect and transport waste materials to a central location.
• Open/lock buildings or rooms and manage lights/equipment.
