Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an Evening Hospice RN for 3 nights per week (4:00 pm–9:00 pm) to provide comprehensive hospice care. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and mentoring Hospice Aides.

Massachusetts RN license and BLS are required, with 1+ year of direct care nursing experience preferred. This role emphasizes pain and symptom management, patient education, and adherence to professional nursing standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
• Active Massachusetts RN license; BLS certification.
• At least 1 year of direct care nursing experience.
• EPIC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete and document an initial assessment of patient and family to determine hospice care needs.
• Perform a complete physical assessment of patient and history of current and previous illness(es).
• Provide information to the patient and family regarding the dying process and expectations.
• Develop a patient-specific plan of care, with goals based on nursing diagnosis and palliative actions.
• Provide instruction to patient and family regarding medications, actions, side effects, dosage, route, and frequency.
• Document services using problem-oriented records.
• Instruct and supervise care given by Hospice Aides; supervise every two weeks minimally.
• Participate in bi-weekly hospice case conferences.

Job Description:

What You’ll Do :

The Hospice RN Team Resource plans and delivers care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation; and effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and other interdisciplinary team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing and clinical competency.

More Specifically :

• Complete and document an initial assessment of patient and family to determine hospice care needs.

• Perform a complete physical assessment of patient and history of current and previous illness(es).

• Provide information to the patient and family regarding the dying process and expectations.

• Develop a patient‑specific plan of care, which establishes goals based on nursing diagnosis and incorporates therapeutic, preventive, and palliative nursing actions with emphasis on pain and symptom management.

• Provide instruction to patient and family regarding medication actions, side effects, dosage, route, and frequency;

• Provide documentation of services utilizing problem‑oriented record;

• Instruct and supervise care given by Hospice Aides; Supervise the care provided by the Hospice Aide every two (2) weeks minimally, and as needed.

• Participate in bi‑weekly hospice case conference or as required.

What You’ll Need :

• Associate’s Degree or BSN (preferred) from an accredited school of nursing;

• An active valid Massachusetts RN license;

• An active American Health Association BLS certification;

• At least 1 year of direct care nursing experience, preferably the area of public health or home care nursing; EPIC experience is preferred.

Pay Range:

$31,200.00 USD - $48,609.75 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
