Job summary

Sonic Healthcare USA in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a dedicated Histotechnologist to prepare tissue sections for diagnosis. You will embed, section, stain, and mount specimens, while operating tissue processors and IHC stains as directed by a Pathologist.

The role requires 1 year of histology experience and ASCP HT certification, with strong analytical skills and the ability to handle routine lab equipment safely.

Qualifications

• 1 year of laboratory training or experience performing embedding, routine microtomy, and H&E staining of pathology specimens.
• Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent experience to sit for the exam.
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment including processors, microscopes, staining systems and alarms.

Responsibilities

• Prepares sections of human tissue for microscopic examination and patient diagnosis using grossing, embedding, sectioning, staining and mounting techniques.
• Load prepared cassettes into tissue processors and start processor; perform recuts and additional stains including IHC as requested by a Pathologist.
• Operate laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate and infiltrate with wax; ensure tissue integrity and confidentiality.
• Label requisitions, containers, cassettes and slides; maintain equipment and perform routine QC.
• Escalate non-routine specimens to Pathologist or lead Histotechnician; dispose of hazardous wastes per guidelines.
