Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the Banner Thunderbird Medical Center Observation unit in Glendale, AZ. This full-time evening shift role supports patient care areas with administrative and clerical tasks to ensure smooth operations.

You will coordinate communications between physicians, nurses, and departments, handle admissions and discharges, maintain patient records, and assist with supply management while providing courteous service to patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of medical clerical experience preferred in hospital or physician office setting.
• Must have strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire and maintain it during employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support operating efficiency and communication flow.
• Processes patient admissions, beds, and prints patient labels; orders outside records when needed.
• Maintains complete patient records with admission, transfer, discharge information and consent forms.
• Coordinates patient discharges and schedules procedures; follows up as needed.
• Maintains supplies and tracks inventory; reconciles supply orders on delivery.
• Monitors and tracks use of electronic equipment (ID scanners, laptops) and ensures functionality.
• Interacts with patients, families, and staff to ensure high-quality service and smooth operations.
