Children’s Wisconsin is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the MACC Fund Center on a .4 FTE, part-time schedule in Milwaukee, WI. The role provides essential clerical and front-desk support, acting as a central communications hub to ensure safe and compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities include welcoming patients and families, handling admissions/discharges, maintaining records, coordinating with nurses, and performing routine clerical tasks in a busy unit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare clerical training or experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organization and multitasking skills are essential.
• Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential clerical and front-desk support within patient care units while serving as a central communication hub that helps ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care.
• Maintain and manage patient records, process admissions/discharges, and coordinate with clinical staff.
• Coordinate with nursing and support departments to manage bed availability and room readiness for smooth transitions of care.
• Handle data entry, filing, supply management, equipment upkeep and general office tasks to keep the unit organized.
