Job summary

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) invites applications for an instructor position at the College of Staten Island. You will plan and teach 2–4 modified GED courses for adults with IDD in a 6:15pm–8:15pm, in-person format on Staten Island.

The role reports to the Director of Community Educational Engagement and requires collaboration with CSI staff and students to provide engaging, accessible instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's preferred.
• Training and experience with universal design preferred.
• Working knowledge of various disabilities.
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal).
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues and be proactive.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach 2–4, 45-minute modified GED courses for adults with IDD.
• Design lessons with hands-on activities and student-centered goals.
• Adjust instruction based on student needs and feedback.
• Attend meetings and professional development as required.
• Maintain safe, respectful classroom environment and document attendance.
• Support CSI undergraduates assisting classes.
• Lead end-of-semester project during Showcase Week.
