Job summary

FedEx Freight in Mills River, NC is hiring for a dock worker responsible for transporting freight across the dock area to and from trailers, with an evening shift from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The starting pay is $21.16 per hour.

You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, verify freight documents, secure loads, assist customers with freight, and maintain safe, compliant procedures in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in warehousing or freight handling preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to lift/carry varying weights and to open trailer doors.

Responsibilities

• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Verify freight documents match description and weight.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
