Job summary

Chimes is seeking a Floor Technician to maintain floors and facilities at our Pentagon location in Washington, DC. The role is part-time on-site with a Monday–Friday 2:00pm–10:00pm schedule, focusing on floor care treatments and custodial tasks to meet contract specifications and safety requirements.

Responsibilities include stripping, sealing, waxing, buffing floors, carpet extraction, and proper use of floor care equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months of floor technician or custodial experience preferred.
• Knowledge of floor care equipment and techniques is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly (75–100 lbs with assistance).
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Strip, seal, wax, buff, and burnish hard floors
• Clean carpets using extractors and spot-cleaning equipment
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain assigned areas
• Operate floor care equipment, including scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, extractors, and ride-on machines
• Mix and use cleaning chemicals safely and properly
• Move furniture as needed to complete floor care
• Perform equipment inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance
• Remove trash when required
• Report maintenance issues, equipment needs, and safety concerns
• Assist with inventory and general custodial duties as needed
• Follow all company, safety, and security policies
