Job summary

Harvard Protection Services seeks a Fire & Life Safety Director to lead security staff, ensure professional customer service, and maintain strong life safety standards across assigned facilities.

The position requires licensing in fire safety and security, High School diploma or GED, and reliable communication/transportation. Responsibilities include enforcing policies, coordinating drills, and documentation, with on-site leadership and rapid response duties.

Qualifications

• State or municipality mandated security officer licenses
• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or the equivalent
• Must have Fire Safety Directors license
• Knowledge of or ability to learn fire inspection operations, and procedures
• Must have reliable means of communication and transportation
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Must have a security guard license or be able to obtain one within an acceptable period
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, fire department, military, customer service experience preferred
• Good organizations skills
• Write routine detailed correspondence, to include log entries, incident and reporting
• Ability to work in a fast paced, customer service environment
• Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize and problem solve
• Good computer skills including Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Lead staff and aid customers, employees, visitors, and guests
• Maintain a visible presence in the facility
• Monitor the environment and detect suspicious activity
• Enforce facility policies and procedures
• Follow emergency action plans and safety standards
• Monitor alarms and systems
• Coordinate scheduling and training as needed
• Assist in fire drills and inspect fire safety devices
• Prepare inspections and incident reports
• Maintain logs and records as required
• May perform fire-fighting duties during emergencies
• May train others in fire emergency response plans
• Support security services at assigned site
