Job summary

Monson Public Schools in Monson, Massachusetts is seeking a Facilities Night Floater Custodian for a 4-hour-per-day, part-time role. You will support Granite Valley School, Monson High School, and Quarry Hill Community School with cleaning, coverage during absences, and other custodial needs.

Starting immediately, the position requires physical stamina, ability to work after hours, and adherence to safety procedures. Wage ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, with occasional day shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous custodial experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Ability to safely operate custodial equipment including vacuums, floor scrubbers, and other cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and the public.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and move custodial equipment and supplies up to 100 pounds.
• Valid Massachusetts driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the building and replace liners as needed.
• Vacuum carpets in classrooms, offices, and common areas.
• Sweep and clean all hard surface floors.
• Clean and disinfect student and staff restrooms.
• Dust windowsills, ledges, and other surfaces.
• Clean classrooms, offices, cafeterias, hallways, stairwells, entrances, and other assigned areas.
• Secure assigned areas by locking doors and reporting any security concerns at the end of each shift.
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, vandalism, or damaged equipment to the Head of Maintenance.
• Follow all district safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain custodial equipment and cleaning supplies in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
• Respond to emergency cleaning situations, including spills and other custodial needs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
