Job summary

Barnard College is seeking a Custodian for a Saturday through Wednesday shift, 4:00 pm to 12:30 am, with Thursdays and Fridays off. Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms, floors, walls, offices, and student residences, disposing of trash, and assisting with event setup and seasonal preparations.

The role requires experience with cleaning equipment, ability to follow instructions, and maintain confidentiality in private offices and student housing.

Qualifications

• Experience in use of mechanical cleaning equipment.
• Experience in cleaning or custodian work.
• Ability to read and write English and follow written/oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Clean restrooms including floors, walls, tiles, ceilings, doors, vents, fixtures, mirrors, and replenish supplies.
• Dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Move and arrange custodial supplies, furniture and equipment as directed.
• Set up residential halls rooms and suites for events and arrivals/departures.
• Coordinate work to have rooms cleaned and ready for fall students.
• Shovel snow and apply snow melt during winter conditions.
• Comply with College safety rules and policies.
