Job summary

Savista, LLC is seeking an Eligibility Specialist I to advocate for patients, helping uninsured and underinsured access financial assistance for medical care. This on-site role at Cooper University Hospital-Cape Regional in Cape May Court House, NJ guides patients through government and charity programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely submissions.

You will meet patients in-person, manage multiple cases, and clearly communicate funding options, while maintaining HIPAA-compliant records

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in healthcare or financial counseling.
• Ability to work at nearby hospital locations within assigned market area for vacancy coverage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex information clearly and empathetically.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet with patients in-person to assess financial assistance eligibility and provide guidance on available programs.
• Facilitate the application process for Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, and hospital charity care with timely, accurate documentation.
• Liaise between patients, hospital staff, and government agencies to establish eligibility, secure funding and resolve coverage issues.
• Manage multiple patient cases, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and ensure follow-up on pending applications.
• Clearly communicate financial obligations and funding options to patients in an empathetic and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate and confidential HIPAA-compliant records.
• Consistently meet productivity and quality metrics and support financial counseling objectives.
• Efficiently use multiple systems and databases to gather, track, and report patient data.
• Assist with vacancy coverage as needed.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
