Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Tech to perform general mechanical, electrical and electronic maintenance of our facility and equipment. You will troubleshoot and repair electrical components, machine controls and plant systems, and fabricate parts as needed.

The role requires reading schematics and using precision tools, with an emphasis on safety and accurate record-keeping. The position offers comprehensive training, a competitive salary, and a path within a global packaging company

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Training/certification in electrical technology/machine control fields.
• Minimum three years' experience in electrical machine control repair or design.
• Michigan electrical license preferred.
• Ability to read schematics, prints, ladder diagrams, and drawings.
• Basic computer experience.
• Knowledge of sensors, hand and small power tools, AC/DC motors and PLCs.
• Knowledge of national electrical code.
• Must pass color vision tests.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform general mechanical, electrical and electronic maintenance of facility and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems including relays, sensors, switches, and motors.
• Troubleshoot and repair machine controls.
• Troubleshoot motors, pumps, compressors and other plant systems.
• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance of equipment.
• Fabricate parts with basic welding, brazing, and cutting.
• Use measuring instruments accurately (rulers, calipers, micrometers).
• Operate machine tools (lathes, grinders, drill presses, mills) to repair or fabricate parts.
• Bend conduit and pull wire.
• Maintain maintenance records.
• Support recycling programs (light bulbs, batteries, metals).
• Work safely and in accordance with company policies.
