Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight, ensuring items are placed on the correct trailers.

Safety is paramount, and you will operate forklifts and other handling equipment in compliance with DOT guidelines. You will secure freight with straps and airbags, monitor shipments using the Dock Yard Management System, and assist in overall warehouse operations.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Experience with safe lifting and freight handling.
• Knowledge of loading techniques and freight forms.
• Ability to use dock yard management system.
• Available for all shifts.
• Able to operate handheld tablet.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a motorized forklift or manually in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Transport freight throughout the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Utilize Dock Yard Management System to monitor shipment locations.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and complete freight movement forms.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and airbags.
• Ensure the quality loading of all trailers and meet delivery schedules.
