Job summary

WCAY seeks Direct Support Professionals to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live safe, meaningful lives in our residential homes in California. You will follow care plans, support daily living activities, and promote independence within a supportive team.

The role requires high school diploma (or equivalent), valid work authorization in the U.S., and may require CPR/First Aid within three months.

Qualifications

Must have valid, unexpired authorization to work in the United States.
High school diploma or equivalent.
CPR/First Aid Certification (desired but not required; must be obtained within three months of hire and renewed bi‑annually).
Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training (desired but not required; must be obtained within three months of hire).
DSP1 & DSP2 state‑mandated certifications (or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe).
Ability to pass all pre‑employment screenings, including Live Scan fingerprinting, TB health screening, and employment verification.

Responsibilities

Follow ISP with care and attention to detail.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for consumers.
Prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs.
Administer medications (pills or liquids only) and maintain accurate documentation.
Monitor and report health concerns, incidents, or behavioral changes to leadership.
Accompany consumers to medical appointments and routine check‑ups as needed.
Engage consumers in activities to promote social skills and independence.
Assist consumers with laundry and household tasks; promote independence.
