Job summary

Abused Women's Aid In Crisis, Inc. (AWAIC) is seeking a Direct Service Advocate to join our Programs team in Anchorage.

The DSA provides trauma-informed, survivor-centered support, crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, and resource navigation, with the 2:30–10:30 pm swing shift.

This relief/on-call, non-exempt position offers compassionate work in a shelter setting, comprehensive benefits after the first year, and opportunities to contribute to adult and children’s services.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Two years of experience in social services, crisis response, advocacy, shelter services, or work with at-risk populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered support to individuals and families.
• Assist with crisis intervention, advocacy, safety planning, and resource navigation.
• Document case notes, participate in group facilitation and coordination with partners.
• Transport participants in agency vehicles for appointments and shelter needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Support onboarding and training of new staff as assigned.

Education
