Job summary

Virginia Tech Dining Services is seeking a dining services supervisor to assist in managing Turner Place under the unit operations manager. You will help execute menu and personnel plans, oversee customer relations, sales, safety, sanitation, and maintenance, and supervise staff.

The role emphasizes developing staff, ensuring policy compliance, and delivering high-quality service in a 40-hour work week with evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of commercial kitchen and food service operations.
• Supervision and/or management experience in a multi-item menu operation.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safe food handling, and sanitation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and public.
• Experience with automated scheduling and automated food inventory systems.
• Experience operating an electronic cash register and handling card payments accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the management of Turner Place under the direction of the unit operations manager, including execution of menu plan, personnel plan, customer relations, sales and register transactions, safety and sanitation, and maintenance and security of building and equipment.
• Assist in supervision, counseling, training and development of employees; ensure policies and procedures are followed.
• Ensure a high level of customer service at all times in the dining facility.
• Create performance plans and complete performance evaluations for salaried direct reports.
