Job summary

Tidewater Community College in Chesapeake is seeking a Lead Custodian for the 3:00pm–11:30pm shift. This full-time, onsite role supports campus facilities by performing custodial and housekeeping tasks across multiple buildings.

The position is designated essential and requires reliable attendance. It includes supervising other housekeepers, assisting the Custodial Manager, and ensuring clean, safe environments for students and staff. Occasional weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of janitorial, custodial, and housekeeping practices.
• Ability to climb ladders without assistance.
• Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience as a shift leader in janitorial/custodial operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide custodial and housekeeping services for college facilities, including trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, floor care.
• Assist with room set-up and take-down as assigned.
• Maintain good attendance and report problems to the Custodial Manager.
• Support supervision and training of other housekeeping staff as needed.
