Job summary

West Michigan Janitorial provides industry-leading janitorial services in West Michigan and employs over 600 team members. Custodians/Janitors clean schools and commercial environments, manage restrooms, dispose of trash, mop floors, dust surfaces, and clean windows, with inventory control of supplies.

Typical shift is 3:30pm to 10:00pm, Monday through Friday. Background check and fingerprinting are required; strong communication with management and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• No experience required, on-the-job training available.
• Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods.
• Lift up to 25 pounds and use cleaning equipment.
• Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of schools and commercial spaces.
• Clean, stock and sanitize restrooms.

Job Skills / Requirements

Requirements of Custodian/Janitor:

• No Experience, No Problem!
• Effectively communicate with manager and other staff regarding issues and supply needs
• Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 25 pounds
• Ability to use motorized equipment (vacuum, hand operated floor cleaners)
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and safety related materials
• Must be able to pass a background check & fingerprinting

Role of Custodian/Janitor:

• Maintaining the cleanliness of schools
• Cleaning, stocking and sanitizing restrooms
• Disposing of trash & recycling
• Mopping & sweeping floors
• Dusting and surface cleaning
• Windows and glass cleaning
• Inventory management of supplies

Custodians/Janitors have daily exposure to cleaning solutions.
