Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking a dedicated custodian to perform general custodial duties including floor care, sweeping, dusting, mopping, restroom cleaning, and glass cleaning to maintain a clean, safe facility. The role requires working evenings, weekends, some holidays, and during inclement weather; it is weather essential personnel.

Starting pay is $15.00 per hour, with a schedule from 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and potential for continued city benefits as defined by policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Texas Driver’s License and reliable transportation preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Strip, wax, and spray buff floors.
• Sweep, dust mop, and wet mop floors.
• Vacuum carpets.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms.
• Empty and clean waste receptacles and dispose of trash.
• Dust furniture, walls, and fixtures.
• Clean glass doors, windows, display cases, desks, and telephones.
• Replace light bulbs and clean lighting fixtures.
• Handle cleaning chemicals responsibly.
• Respond by telephone to after-hour and emergency call-outs.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
