Job summary

University of Notre Dame is seeking a Custodian for the 4 p.m. & 5 p.m. shifts to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming facilities across the campus.

The role supports academic, residential, athletic, and administrative spaces in alignment with the University’s mission and community standards. You will contribute to the student and staff experience daily. Responsibilities include restroom and shower care, general cleaning, floor maintenance, waste removal, and assisting with special cleaning

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Ability to work with infrequent direct supervision.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
• Basic computer skills are preferred.
• Ability to work safely and report hazards and concerns.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms and shower areas, refill dispensers, scrub and mop floors.
• Vacuum carpets, dust furniture, clean surfaces, and manage entryways and glass.
• Perform floor maintenance including scrubbing, buffing, and refinishing as needed.
• Collect, separate, and dispose of trash and recyclables; manage waste areas.
• Lock/unlock doors, assist with event set-ups, respond to cleaning requests, and move furniture for cleaning.
