Job summary

The Custodial team at the University of Notre Dame is seeking a dedicated Custodian for the 4 p.m. shift to keep campus facilities clean, safe, and welcoming.

Key duties include restroom care, general cleaning, trash disposal, and responding to cleaning requests; prior custodial experience is preferred and communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous custodial experience preferred.
• Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Must be able to work effectively with infrequent direct supervision.
• Must be able to follow instructions and procedures.
• Basic computer skills are preferred.
• Must be able to work safely and report hazards and concerns.

Responsibilities

• Restroom & shower care, including cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking supplies.
• General cleaning: vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and surface care.
• Trash and recyclables disposal; maintain waste collection areas.
• Assist with event set-ups and lock/unlock designated doors.
• Respond to emergency or special cleaning requests.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and participate in training.
