Job summary

The University of Notre Dame is seeking a dedicated custodian to join its facilities cleaning team. Responsibilities include restroom and shower care, general cleaning, floor maintenance, waste removal, and supporting event setups in campus buildings.

Candidates should have prior custodial experience, strong communication skills (oral and written), and the ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision. The role includes 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. shifts on Notre Dame campus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Must be able to work effectively with infrequent direct supervision.
• Must be able to follow instructions and procedures.
• Basic computer skills are preferred.
• Must be able to work safely and report hazards and concerns.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms and shower areas, including toilets, urinals, partitions, sinks, mirrors, counters, and vents.
• Refill dispensers, scrub and mop floors, clean drains and maintain hygiene standards.
• Vacuum carpeted areas, dust furniture, and clean fixtures; perform seasonal snow removal as needed.
• Perform floor maintenance: scrubbing, buffing, burnishing, stripping, refinishing.
• Collect and dispose of trash; operate dumpsters and compactors.
• Lock/unlock doors, assist with event set-ups, respond to cleaning requests.
• Report hazards, communicate with building staff, and support facility appearance.
