Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a Custodian for the 2nd shift to perform cleaning duties and basic maintenance in its buildings. The role reports to the Custodial & Staffing Manager and Building Principal and requires a minimum of two years’ custodial experience.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid sick/personal/vacation days and PERF retirement. Shift is 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., 8 hours daily, 260 days yearly.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience or equivalent skills from a similar position.
• Knowledge & experience in custodial services.
• Exceptional oral communication skills including listening, questioning, clarifying and responsiveness.
• Clear written communication; ability to read and interpret written information.
• Ability to work in a team and build positive, cooperative relationships.
• General knowledge of computers including email, word processing and work order software.

Responsibilities

• Serve as custodian and follow assigned cleaning routes.
• Maintain, clean, and ensure safety of buildings, premises, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and grassy areas; remove snow and salt as needed.
• Perform minor maintenance such as painting, plumbing, and light bulb changes.
• Comply with safety regulations for equipment and chemical handling.
• Know fire and security alarm systems; clean up body fluid spills following procedures.
• Empty trash and manage waste disposal per local regulations.
• Set up tables and chairs for events; move furniture as directed.
• General cleaning and upkeep: buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, windows.
• Contact personnel if a building alarm is activated.
• Other duties as assigned by Custodial & Staffing Manager or Building Principal.
