Job summary

Ames Community School District in Ames, IA is seeking a dedicated facilities custodian to join our evening shift team. The role maintains and cleans assigned areas, prepares the facility for events, and ensures building security after hours.

You will use a computer to enter work orders, submit timesheets, and communicate with staff via radio and phone. Requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and clear written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Ability to frequently lift, bend, shovel, and carry and move items up to 50 lbs.
• Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains assigned rooms throughout the building.
• Assists in preparing the facility for evening and weekend activities.
• Secures the building and performs lock-up duties.
• Utilizes computers to enter work orders, manage email, and submit timesheets and absences.
• Communicates with staff and community members using a two-way radio and cell phone.
• Maintains building grounds during winter conditions through snow removal and ice mitigation.
