Job summary

Ames Community School District is seeking a Maintenance/Custodial/Custodian for a 12-month year-round position in Ames, IA. The role runs 5:30am-2:00pm, Monday through Friday, with duties including cleaning classrooms and cafeteria areas, preparing the building for events, and ensuring security and building lock-up.

Compensation starts at $17.00 per hour with benefits such as life insurance, long-term disability, paid time off, and IPERS retirement.

Qualifications

• Frequent lifting, bending, carrying and moving items up to 50 lbs.
• Effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned rooms in the school.
• Routinely cleans the cafeteria during and after breakfast and lunch.
• Helps prepare building for evening and weekend activities.
• Building lock-up/security.
• Uses computers to input work orders, email, timesheet/absences.
• Uses two-way radio and cell phone to communicate with other staff and community members.
