Job summary

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, VA is seeking an experienced CT Technologist to join a fast-paced radiology team dedicated to patient safety, imaging quality, and excellent care.

This full-time evening shift involves operating fixed and portable CT scanners, performing CT exams across all ages, assisting radiologists, and ensuring accurate image transmission to PACS while maintaining a clean, well-stocked CT suite.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an academic program accredited by JRCERT, COE, or an equivalent accrediting organization.
• At least 1 year of CT experience within the last 2 years as a Radiologic Technologist or in the CT specialty.
• ARRT certification in CT.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong knowledge of CT procedures, contrast safety, patient positioning, and emergency response.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate fixed and portable CT scanners to perform routine and advanced imaging procedures.
• Perform CT examinations across all patient populations, including pediatric and trauma patients.
• Assist radiologists with specialized and interventional procedures.
• Perform emergency imaging procedures, including Code Stroke examinations.
• Coordinate closely with radiologists, emergency department staff, inpatient teams, and scheduling personnel to maintain efficient patient flow.
• Review image quality and ensure complete image series are transmitted to PACS for radiologist interpretation.
• Maintain daily equipment warmups, calibrations, and ACR quality-control procedures.
• Identify equipment issues, document problems, and coordinate repairs with Biomedical Repair and Medical Physics personnel.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked CT suite.
• Maintain appropriate documentation of continuing education and clinical experience in accordance with ACR and facility requirements.
