Job summary

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a Crisis Intervention Engagement Technician to perform community-based crisis intervention, outreach, and stabilization services in Illinois. The role includes safety planning, linkage to mental health or substance use treatment, and collaboration with various community partners.

The position emphasizes trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented practices, and strong documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21 with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience or skills in human services and working with adults.
• Personal recovery experience and willingness to share lived recovery journey.
• Ability to obtain CRSS credential within one year of hire.
• Preferred background in social services, teaching, corrections/policing, patient care, or lived recovery/work experience.
• Ability to remain calm and even-tempered in potentially volatile situations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with consumers, staff, and community partners.
• Basic computer proficiency, including MS Word, email, and EMR.
• Valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance, and insurability.

Responsibilities

• Provide community-based crisis intervention, outreach, engagement, and stabilization services with safety planning and linkage to treatment.
• Promote recovery-oriented care using trauma-informed practices.
• Complete documentation and data entry per program requirements.
• Maintain timely records and ensure plans are completed onsite.
• Build positive relationships with consumers, families, hospitals, jails, EMS, and community partners.
• Attend supervision, staff meetings, trainings, and Chestnut-mandated education.
• Protect confidentiality of all consumer and organizational information.
• Provide backup support to team members.
