Job summary

Mental Health Resource Center is seeking an Evaluator for the Emergency Services Department. The role involves conducting psychiatric crisis screenings and determining appropriate dispositions and referrals to community resources.

The Evaluator assesses individuals, ensures accurate and confidential records, and coordinates with hospitals and insurers to arrange needed services. Evening shifts Monday–Friday, with a focus on quality behavioral health care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field.
• Ability to make sound, independent decisions daily, including recognizing emergencies.
• Strong communication with families, caregivers, professionals, and internal staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet research.

Responsibilities

• Conducts emergency mental health screenings for individuals entering the facility via Baker Act or voluntary admission.
• Evaluates crisis situations using Baker Act criteria and DSM-5 standards and arranges appropriate services.
• Provides Crisis Intervention.
• Coordinates patient transfers to community hospitals.
• Coordinates with insurance companies for pre-certifications and authorizations for treatment.
• Completes required documentation and reporting.
