Job summary

Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Salem seeks a Custodian to maintain clean, safe court facilities. Responsibilities include cleaning offices, bathrooms, removing trash, mowing lawns, snow removal, and assisting with maintenance under a Facilities Supervisor.

Scheduled hours are Monday–Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm. This is a union position under OPEIU Local 6, with potential shift differential and essential personnel status in emergencies.

Qualifications

• No degree required.
• Three years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and supplies.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
• Able to meet schedules and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Dust and wet mop floors, vacuum carpeted areas, and maintain clean spaces.
• Strip and re-wax floors and buff surfaces.
• Clean furniture, windows, walls, and restrooms; replenish supplies.
• Check and secure lights, doors, and windows after cleaning.
• Move furniture as needed to facilitate cleaning.
• Mow lawns and shovels snow when necessary.
• Provide coverage for other custodians as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
