Job summary

Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Facilities Management recruits a Custodian for the Salem area, based at the J. Michael Ruane Judicial Center.

The role ensures clean, orderly facilities, with duties including cleaning offices, bathrooms, mows lawns, snow removal, and basic maintenance under supervision. The position is unionized under the CBA with OPEIU Local 6, and is a full-time role with schedule Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods and supplies

• Knowledge of KAIVAC and IMOP equipment

Responsibilities

• Dusts and wet mops floors and stairways; operates vacuum to clean carpet areas.
• Strips wax, applies fresh wax and uses power buffer to polish floors.
• Dusts furniture, empties wastepaper baskets, cleans windows, mirrors, doors and washes walls.
• Cleans windows and walls; changes light bulbs.
• Cleans and sanitizes drinking fountains and restrooms; replenishes supplies.
• Moves furniture to facilitate cleaning and assists in transfers or rearranges office layout.
• Provides coverage for other custodians as needed.
