Position Overview: The Evening Coordinator works within the Director of the Academic Success Center (ASC) to manage personnel and resources devoted to tutoring, testing, and learning support services offered during evening hours. The coordinator, reporting to the ASC Director, is a key player in supporting the success and persistence of all students who rely on evening access to the center.

1. Teaching Excellence

  • Support the ASC Director and coordinators in the implementation and refinement of practices focused on learning assistance, tutoring, and peer education during evening hours.
  • Support the ASC Director and coordinators in planning and coordinating proactive programming and innovative strategies to enhance student learning outside of the traditional daytime schedule.
  • Manage supplemental instruction and tutoring as needed during evening operating hours.
  • Work closely with faculty and staff across divisions to support evening learning needs.

2. Holistic Student Support and Outreach

  • Remains available, responsive, and approachable while working with learning assistants and/or students via all tutoring modalities during evening hours.
  • Creates an environment that is open and encouraging to all students.
  • Assist with events and workshops to support students in extra‑disciplinary and co‑curricular activities and skills, including those scheduled in the evening.
  • Promote the ASC and other available resources to students attending evening classes.
  • Update websites and documents, and distribute information relating to the hours, services, and policies of the ASC during evening operations.

3. Organizational Culture

  • Directly manage learning assistants, embedded learning assistants, and supplemental instruction staff scheduled during evening hours.
  • Provide appropriate oversight of Testing Center activities.
  • Maintain the evening schedule of professional tutors and student workers to include fielding tutor cancellations, finding substitute tutors, and monitoring student workers.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless student support and services after standard business hours.
  • Perform activities to ensure the smooth day‑to‑day operation of evening tutoring and testing, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide consistent supervision of these areas and serve as the primary point of contact when full‑time administrators and staff may have limited availability.

4. Program Innovation

  • Assist with the development and routine operations of the ASC.
  • Assist in researching, maintaining, and organizing appropriate technology for the ASC.
  • Monitor program effectiveness through periodic assessments of evening services, making adaptive changes when necessary.

5. Fiscal Stewardship

  • Complete learning assistant reports as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with both college standards and accrediting agency policies.

Qualifications:

An earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant field. Proven record of accomplishment of progressively increasing leadership roles and responsibilities. Demonstrated expertise in contemporary best practices in learning assistance. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with computers and other forms of technology utilized in providing high‑quality instruction and the understanding and successful use of learning technology. Willingness and ability to work a regular evening schedule, including hours extending into the weekends. A passion for student success.

Office Duties:

Maintain regular evening and weekend office hours in person, assist with phone calls and office work as needed, and attend staff meetings. Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the department leadership and in conjunction with the Division of Academic Affairs initiatives.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
