Job summary

Valley View Village, a Cassia community, is hiring a Cook to join our culinary team at 2571 Guthrie Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317. This full-time role offers consistent hours, no late nights, and the chance to prepare nourishing meals for residents.

Position Type: Full-Time, working a varying schedule including every other weekend. Shift: 11:00 AM- 8:00 PM. Valley View Village values teamwork and growth in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Prior cooking experience in institutional/quantity cooking preferred but not required.
• Ability to speak and read English.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with others.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate team members to provide fast, friendly and excellent service to residents and guests.
• Prepare and assist cooking meals to ensure adherence to recipes and quality standards, including feature/specials and grill service.
• Work within the department to provide quality and nutritious meals and service to residents.
• Help maintain a clean and sanitary culinary department.
• Wash dishes and clean the kitchen and dining rooms.
• Assist residents, employees, and guests with a broad range of dietary needs.
• Perform additional tasks as required.
