Job summary

The University of North Dakota is hiring for a lead cook role at the Grand Forks campus. The job focuses on preparing food for service using batch and display cooking techniques and may train part-time and student staff while stepping in for the lead cook when needed.

Shifts run 12:30pm–9:00pm, 40 hours per week, onsite at UND Grand Forks. Requires high school diploma and experience in large-volume food production; overtime is possible as it is non-exempt.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Food production experience in a large volume setting is required.
• Experience with computers and software programs is required.
• Progressive supervisory experience with all age groups is preferred.
• Successful completion of a criminal history records check is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares products for service to customers.
• Prepares and cooks dishes according to recipes/reports.
• Display/cook-to-order food preparation as directed.
• Slices and weighs serving portions of meats and cheeses.
• Garnishes serving lines and displays for attractive presentation.
• Operates grills, slicers, choppers, steam equipment, fryers, ovens and scales.
• Ensures timely meal deadlines and maintains quality.
