Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a dedicated individual to prepare patient specimens for analysis and provide technical support for a clinical laboratory service. Evening shifts, full-time, onsite, with state-employed benefits through UNC Health Care System.

The role involves specimen processing, QC, troubleshooting equipment and assisting in teaching and training; opportunities to participate in special projects and team initiatives abound.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consults/confers with healthcare providers and/or laboratory supervisor regarding specimen suitability, procedures, media preparation or instrument function checks.
• Investigates and troubleshoots problems with equipment, procedures, specimens, reagents and/or workflow.
• May assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students, Pathology residents, fellows, visiting scientists and/or new employees.
• May monitor daily operation of a specific clinical service or program.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• Performs specimen processing procedures. Provides quality control and equipment maintenance.

Education
