Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a dedicated laboratory support professional to prepare patient specimens for analysis and provide technical support for a core laboratory service. This on-site role involves coordinating with providers and supervisors on procedures and instrument checks, and troubleshooting workflow issues.

Responsibilities include specimen processing, quality control, equipment maintenance, and potential teaching of students and residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consults/confers with healthcare providers and/or laboratory supervisor regarding specimen suitability, procedures, media preparation or instrument function checks.
• Investigates and troubleshoots problems with equipment, procedures, specimens, reagents and/or workflow.
• May assist in teaching of Clinical Laboratory Science students, Pathology residents, fellows, visiting scientists and/or new employees.
• May monitor daily operation of a specific clinical service or program.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• Performs specimen processing procedures. Provides quality control and equipment maintenance.

Education
