Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking a full-time Clinical Lab Assistant to support day-to-day operations in the Dermatopathology, Histology and Translational Core Laboratories.

Responsibilities include receiving and triaging specimens, preparing reagents, maintaining inventory, handling hazardous materials and coordinating with clients. Shift: Mon-Fri 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm. Hourly wage ranges from $21.64 to $26.50, with USC's comprehensive compensation philosophy.

Qualifications

• Related undergraduate study is the minimum education.
• Combined experience/education may substitute for minimum education.
• Experience as a laboratory assistant in a clinical lab.

Responsibilities

• Prepare simple and complex reagents or media under direct supervision.
• Receive, accession and triage patient specimens, blocks and slides.
• Monitor incoming phone inquiries and requests.
• Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations with clients and other personnel.
• Identify and separate specimens to be referred to outside laboratories or analyzed by other USC laboratories.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
• Maintain and organize laboratory supplies. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
