Job summary

The University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine seeks a full-time Clinical Lab Assistant to support the Dermatopathology, Histology, Immunohistochemistry, and Translational Pathology Core Laboratories in Los Angeles. The role performs specimen accessioning, reagent prep, and inventory management, with a Monday–Friday shift 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

Qualifications

• Related undergraduate study is required.
• 0-6 months of experience expected.
• Experience as a laboratory assistant in a clinical lab is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare simple and complex reagents or media under direct supervision.
• Receive, accession and triage patient specimens, blocks and slides.
• Monitor incoming phone inquiries and requests.
• Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations with clients and other personnel.
• Identify and separate specimens to be referred to outside laboratories or analyzed by other USC laboratories.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous and non‑hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
• Maintain and organize laboratory supplies.
• Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
