Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Chemical Technician – 2nd Shift in South Plainfield, NJ to support safe and efficient laboratory operations, including chemical testing and raw material analysis under GMP and ISO9001 guidelines.

You will lead safety discussions, manage the QC database, and ensure accurate, timely quality control results while collaborating with production teams to resolve issues and maintain data integrity.

Qualifications

• Experience performing chemical testing in a laboratory environment.
• Strong wet chemistry skills and raw materials testing.
• Knowledge of raw material properties and their impact on product quality.
• Working knowledge of GMP and ISO9001 in lab or production.
• Ability to use and update a quality management system for specifications.
• Ability to monitor and manage data in a QC database and release results.
• Attention to detail to identify missing labels and erroneous data.
• Effective communication of issues and corrective actions to teams.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple samples and specs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare safety topics and lead weekly safety meetings in the lab.
• Ensure product quality per ISO9001 standards and QC procedures.
• Perform chemical testing and cover other testing areas as needed.
• Monitor QC database and release product results in a timely manner.
• Identify personnel-related issues and communicate resolutions to leadership.
• Identify errors in labels, data, or information and recommend corrective actions.
• Enter new customer and product specs into the QMS and maintain accuracy.
• Validate Certificates of Analysis when released from the QMS.
• Initiate spec requests when specs are unavailable.
• Monitor raw materials in QC status and release to production.
• Resolve raw material spec issues with cross-functional teams.
• Apply GMP practices in all lab activities and handling of materials.
• Support continuous improvement of lab processes.
