Job summary

Forward Air Corporation is seeking a Brokerage Carrier Operations Specialist for the 2nd shift (3:00 PM-11:00 PM) to secure carrier capacity and manage critical evening operations. You will serve as the primary liaison between carrier partners, stations, and internal teams to ensure on-time shipment execution and service excellence.

Responsibilities include optimizing coverage, recovering late loads, and maintaining visibility in TMS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
• 1-2 years of experience in freight brokerage, carrier sales, transportation operations, logistics coordination, or related field preferred.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to secure capacity while maintaining profitability.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with internal stakeholders, customers, carriers, drivers, and dispatch personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated urgency, accountability, and ownership in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and secure carrier capacity for all remaining open loads before the end of the business day.
• Identify and recover late, at-risk, or bounced loads to protect customer commitments.
• Serve as the evening point of contact for stations, account teams, customers, and facilities.
• Source, qualify, and engage carrier partners to support coverage needs and market demands.
• Negotiate transactional freight rates balancing capacity, service expectations, and profitability.
• Verify carrier compliance and adherence to policies and standards.
• Monitor shipments and maintain load status in TMS and related systems.
