Job summary

Discovery Commons Washington Square is seeking a part-time Care Giver/Medication Technician to enrich residents' lives with hands-on care, medication administration, and compassionate support in a home-like setting.

You will provide daily living assistance, monitor health changes, and engage residents in activities while maintaining safety and dignity. This role emphasizes clear communication with families and healthcare staff and adherence to safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse's Aide certification preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and demonstrate good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care and supervision for assigned residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, transferring, eating) while promoting dignity, independence, and safety.
• Administer and observe medications and treatments in accordance with the Six Rights of Medication Pass, documenting accurately and reporting concerns promptly, including refusal of medications or missed doses
• Monitor and record resident conditions, including changes in behavior, appetite, skin, and participation in activities.
• Engage residents in enrichment programs and life skills activities to support overall well‑being.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in resident rooms, community areas, and medication/treatment spaces.
• Respond promptly to resident call bells and community security systems.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, supervisors, and healthcare staff regarding care needs and changes in condition.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards, infection control protocols, and confidentiality policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
