Job summary

Montreat College is seeking a Campus Safety Officer (Security) for evening shifts on its main campus. The approximately 10-month role requires 20+ hours per week and is non-benefitted (0.5 FTE).

The candidate must affirm the college's faith statement and community standards and be prepared to support campus safety operations. Responsibilities include handling calls for assistance, building openings/closures, traffic regulation, patrols, event security, logs, and coordination with local law

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of college level coursework preferred.
• Security and/or Law Enforcement experience preferred.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license required.
• Professional appearance and ability to relate to people in a professional and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

• Handle calls for assistance.
• Open and close buildings.
• Regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
• Perform routine patrols of grounds and buildings.
• Assist with security at special events.
• Keep detailed daily logs.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement agencies.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Safety and/or Vice President of Student Life.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Two years of college coursework preferred

Security/Law Enforcement experience preferred

Valid North Carolina driver’s license

Professional appearance

Ability to relate to people in a professional and courteous manner
