Job summary

Nemours Children's Health in Wilmington, Delaware seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist (Blood Bank) for the evening shift to join our hospital team.

You will perform high‑complexity testing, oversee immunohematology procedures, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor staff under supervision. The role includes workflow coordination, instrument maintenance, specimen integrity, and timely result reporting for pediatric patients; evening shifts with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Lab or Science related program is required.
• Minimum of 6 months experience required, including clinical practicum time as a student.
• Nationally/Internationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist or equivalent (ASCP, AAB or AMT) eligible.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of analytical procedures of moderate to high complexity in all areas of the laboratory, including molecular diagnostics and flow cytometry, following approved methods.
• Develops and validates complex tests for implementation in the laboratory and assists with SOPs and proficiency testing.
• Orders, accessions, statuses, and reports results, ensuring accuracy of patient identifiers, specimen quality, and order appropriateness.
• Operates, calibrates, troubleshoots, and maintains laboratory instrumentation, performing quality control and preventive maintenance.
